NASpI - Monthly Unemployment Benefit

BlueBird International S.R.L.S (P.IVA- IT02725940205) @ All Right Reserved 2025

What is NASpI?

NASpI (New Social Insurance for Employment) is the monthly unemployment benefit that replaces the previous ASpI and MiniASpI and is paid upon request by the interested party in relation to involuntary unemployment events.

Who is entitled to NASpI?

NASpI is due to workers with a subordinate employment relationship who have involuntarily lost their job, including:

  •   the apprentices;
  •   worker members of cooperatives with a subordinate employment relationship;
  •   artistic personnel with a subordinate employment relationship.
  •   fixed-term employees of public administrations;

Who is not entitled to it?

The following are not entitled to NASpI unemployment benefits:

  • permanent employees of public administrations;
  • agricultural workers on fixed-term and permanent contracts;
  • non-EU workers with a residence permit for seasonal work, for whom the specific legislation remains confirmed.
  • workers who have met the requirements for old-age or early retirement;
  • workers entitled to an ordinary disability benefit, if they do not choose NASpI.

When is NASpI due:

The NASpI unemployment benefit is due starting from:

  • from the eighth day following the date of termination of the employment relationship, if the application is submitted within the eighth day. From the day following the submission of the application, if submitted after the eighth day following termination, but within the legal deadlines;
  • from the eighth day following the end of the period of maternity, illness, accident at work/occupational disease or notice, if the application is submitted within the eighth day. From the day following the submission of the application, if submitted after the eighth day but within the legal deadlines;
  • from the thirty-eighth day following dismissal for just cause, if the application is submitted within the thirty-eighth day. From the day following the submission of the application, if submitted after the thirty-eighth day following dismissal, but within the legal deadlines.

How long does it last?

NASpI is paid monthly for a number of weeks equal to half of the contribution weeks in the last four years. For the purposes of calculating the duration, periods of contributions that have already given rise to the payment of unemployment benefits are not counted. Similarly, contributions that have produced benefits received in a single solution in advance are not counted.

How much is due?

The amount of the benefit is equal to 75% of the average monthly salary subject to social security contributions over the last four years if the salary is lower than a reference amount established by law and revalued annually on the basis of the variation in the ISTAT index and made known each year by INPS with a circular published on the website (1,221.44 euros for 2019, 1,227.55 euros for 2020 and 2021).

If the average salary is higher than the aforementioned annual reference amount (1,227.55 euros for 2021), the amount of the benefit is instead equal to 75% of the annual reference amount established by law (1,227.55 euros for 2021) added to 25% of the difference between the average monthly salary and the aforementioned amount established by law.

The amount of the allowance is reduced in cases such as self-employed work or new employment with a subordinate or parasubordinate employment contract.

How NASpI is paid

NASpI is credited to a bank or postal current account, to a postal savings book or via bank transfer to a post office in the postal code of the applicant's residence or domicile.
